Rhythmic gymnastics is not only a sport. It is a specific combination of sport and art.

Though at first glance it seems very easy, gymnasts spend many years to reach the highest level of competitions. They have great coordination and scatter attention abilities. Rhythmic gymnasts must perform equally with both hands and both legs, synchronising body movements and apparatus technique with the music. Explosive strength is a must, so training includes a lot of running, jumping, stretching etc.

Artistic side

On the other hand, rhythmic gymnastics is the art of self-expression, interpretation of the music that captures the attention of the audience. It is a kind of show. You put all those years in a few minutes of the performance at the major competition. One drop of the apparatus, one second of inattention, and your dreams are gone. Years of devotion, are torn in that second. Then you get up and continue as if nothing happened.
